Carlos Amaya is a Senior Specialist at the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council with responsibility for providing product certification services to government and industry. Prior to joining the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, Carlos Amaya worked in sustainability and energy efficiency strategies at several companies, including Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC) and Parsons Brinckerhoff. Notable is his last 6 years working for the Abu Dhabi government in various advisory roles. Carlos Amaya received a Masters degree in Energy Studies from the University of Melbourne, Australia.

Pierre Langlois

President, Vice Chairman, Econoler, Energy Valuation Organization (EVO)

Pierre Langlois boasts more than 30 years of experience in the clean energy sector, namely in the design, financing, implementation and monitoring of EE and demand side renewable energy (RE) projects and programs at the international level.

Mr. Langlois is a world-renowned international expert in the development and implementation of pioneering EE financial mechanisms and EE financing, and particularly ESCO start-up and operation in industrialized and developing countries.  Over the past few decades, Mr. Langlois has worked in over 45 countries carrying out assignments led or financed by major multilateral development banks, bilateral and multilateral development organizations, many UN agencies as well as governments and utilities. He has worked in the UAE for the last 3 years for different ESCO related initiatives for utilities and other stakeholders.

Pierre was involved in over 600 major assignments related to institutional and private sector initiatives related to energy efficiency. He also acted as member of the board of directors of several private sector organisations worldwide such as ESCOs and a few international organizations such as the Efficiency Valuation Organization (EVO), the home of the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP) for which he currently acts as Vice Chair.

His achievements with Econoler have been awarded numerous prizes, such as the Clean Technology Award 2000 by the Climate Technology Initiative and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) at The Hague Climate Change Convention (COP 6) and the “Legend in Energy” honour given by the Association of Energy Engineers in 2007.

Pierre has gained a unique experience at the international level, having worked in 50 countries as part of assignments led or financed by bilateral and multilateral development organisations as well as dedicated funds focused on climate change mitigation and sustainable energy.  In this context, he has led ventures for several major private sector clients, like Alcoa and ABB, as well as for major electricity companies around the world.

He is the author of several publications for organisations such as NRCAN, the International Energy Agency and the World Bank as well as private publishers.

N. Guy Winebrenner

Vice President – Energy & Environment, RTI International

Guy Winebrenner currently serves as the vice president of the Middle East Energy Sector for RTI International, a global research and consultancy firm. In this role, he is responsible for the overall conduct of projects and growth of the energy and water consultancy across the Middle East. Since 2008, he has served as a lead technical expert on various energy and water efficiency projects in the United Arab Emirates. He has earned both bachelor and master’s degrees in engineering, has completed numerous post-graduate courses in business and law and is a registered professional engineer in several US states.

Prior to joining RTI, Mr. Winebrenner was the global director of the energy sector for Amec Foster Wheeler, where he directed specialized resources from across the company to manage programs and solve problems that are important to its power and gas utility customers.

Mr. Winebrenner has over 40 years of utility and consulting experience in developing sustainable solutions to infrastructure and resource management challenges associated with global energy and water needs. Throughout his professional experience, he has focused on the planning, design, and construction of power, natural gas and water infrastructure projects. Twenty years of that experience was in key management positions at investor-owned utilities, where he was responsible for complex engineering projects and programs. Mr. Winebrenner has played an active role in the assessment of energy and water efficiency and the development of demand-side management programs to reduce demand and consumption.

Charles Blaschke

Managing Director, Taka Solutions

Charles is the Founder and Managing Director of taka solutions.  Charles works in all aspects of building analysis, design, construction and operation, as well as project financing and management to help building owners and individuals reduce their energy consumption and energy related costs.   As a Dubai-based energy efficiency provider, taka solutions specializes in fully-financed, paid-from-savings Energy Performance Contracting.  taka solutions’ regional goal is to work with governmental bodies to adopt widespread use of technology and business model to curb the worlds energy supply needs. The company’s ultimate mission is to drive large-scale policy to make a significant impact on energy usage worldwide, with the goal of saving 20% of the world’s energy use by 2050. By employing innovative financing such as working with 3rd parties and adopting shared saving contracts, taka solutions can reach people and countries who otherwise would not benefit from the EPC business model.

The company has enabled itself to deploy its mission rapidly with the use of industry technology such as energy modeling, energy monitoring, asset optimization software and Building Information Modeling (BIM).  Charles uses the latest tools and technology available including BIM and custom software to create the most efficient process for energy modeling, design documentation and energy management.

Prior to taka solutions, Charles worked in the automotive, mining, process & industrial, construction and technology consulting industries.  His time in the MENA region has been focused on Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems design, sustainable design and technology integration with design and construction using BIM technologies. This broad knowledge of all aspects of building planning, design, construction and operation, along with the understanding of the latest technologies comes together to offer a holistic approach to the most efficient ways building can be delivered and operated.

Charles is from Kansas City, Missouri, USA. He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering with Honors from Missouri University of Science & Technology in Rolla, Missouri. Charles is a certified LEED AP and holds his private pilot’s license.

Sasikumar is the Director of Engineering at The Address Dubai Marina (TADMM). Prior to joining TADMM, Sasi  worked at several Resorts including Atlantis and One & Only Royal Mirage Hotel. Notable is his 35-year experience as Electrical Engineer of which 25 years in the U.A.E.

He is passionate about the environment and energy conservation. In his present capacity in the last 8 years, he has done many initiations in environmental and energy savings. He has been leading the Energy and Environmental Committee in the hotel for 8 years now and achieved considerable savings and improvement towards environment and energy.

Hassan Younes

Technical Director, Griffin Consultants

Hassan is an ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer, a certified trainer by the Association of Energy Engineers for the CEM course, an appointed Consultant for the ASHRAE 62.1 Standard and the recipient of the prestigious Energy Professional of the Year 2015 for the Middle East region by the AEE in Orlando, Florida.

He also facilitates the Building Retrofit program in Dubai organized by the Emirates Green Building Council in collaboration with Masdar and the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy.

Hassan is on the Boards of Governors of the local and regional chapters of ASHRAE and CIBSE, the internationally-adopted standardizing authorities based in the USA and UK respectively. In those capacities, Hassan works to promote the advancement and improvement of the regional construction industry by collaborating with industry professionals, academia, and governmental entities. He is currently the Chairman of the Industry Advisory Panel of the Herriot Watt Architectural and Engineering Program.

With extensive experience in engineering systems design, analysis and consulting and a passionate objective of raising the industry and sustainability standards in the region, Younes entered a partnership to establish Griffin Consultants where he is responsible for all technical and developmental aspects of the firm. Throughout his career, he was involved in the design of multiple high-end developments including retail, residential, commercial, and hospitality projects some of which are iconic in the Emirate of Dubai like The Beach (JBR) and City Walk. Hassan led and completed multiple energy audits with private and governmental entities and provided consultancy on various governmental energy efficiency programs.

Stephane Le Gentil

Chief Executive Officer, & Chairman, Wattaqa, Clean Energy Business Council

Stephane le Gentil is Founder and CEO of Wattaqa since November 2016. Wattaqa provides consultancy, advisory and project management services in end-use energy efficiency, energy Demand Side Management (DSM) and ESCO (Energy Services) activities with a focus on the Middle East region. In 2013 Stephane came to Dubai to found and lead Etihad Energy Services Company (Etihad ESCO) as CEO. Etihad ESCO was setup under the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) as the official government organization to reduce significantly the consumption of electricity and water in 30,000 existing buildings in Dubai. Prior to Etihad ESCO, Stephane spent many years at a leading global Energy Services company to build their European activities. Stephane serves as a member of the board at the Efficiency Valuation Organization (EVO) who owns the IPMVP and he is past Chairman of the European Association of Energy Service Companies, eu-ESCO.

Holley Chant

Executive Director, KEO International

Holley Chant, LEED AP, GSAS CGP is the Executive Director of Corporate Sustainability and Commissioning at KEO International Consultants, a 2,500-person organization ranked in ENR’s Top 20 International Project Management Firms and BD World’s Top 100 Architecture firms. She has built the firm’s sustainability business from the ground up, driving projects that meet LEED, Estidama, CEEQUAL and GSAS sustainability standards for both public and private sector clients across the GCC.

Prior to KEO, as Estidama Planning Manager at the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council, Holley played an instrumental role in launching the GCC’s 1st mandatory sustainability compliance initiative. She created numerous educational series on the integrative design process for property developers, government authorities, and other high profile individuals in the fundamentals of sustainable building design.

Under her leadership, KEO Sustainability won the “QGBC Green Service Provider, Building Consultant” Award 2016 in Qatar. Holley is a recipient of the Middle East Consultant Leader of the Year Award in 2016 and the Middle East Architecture Awards Principal of the Year Award (2012). She has served as the sustainability judge in the Dubai Cityscape Global Awards (2014-2016), The Middle East Hotel Awards (2015) as well as the Middle East Architecture Awards (2016 and 2014).  She has spoken at numerous professional conferences internationally and lectured at educational institutions including Harvard University and the Masdar Institute for Science and Technology.

Eng. Sami Ibrahim

Senior Energy Engineer, Environment, RTI International

Mr. Sami Ibrahim is an expert in sustainable designs, energy efficiency & energy management, demand side management (DSM), buildings and infrastructure MEP design reviews and ISO-50001 energy management systems development, implementation and maintenance as well as facilities management.

Mr. Ibrahim has over 20 years of experience in multiple industries including, commercial, industrial, institutional, utilities, oil and gas, urban planning, property development, energy and facilities management as well as ESCOs, where he managed various projects total values reaching up to multi-billion Dollars.

At RTI International, Sami Ibrahim is currently the Senior Energy Engineer in the GCC Regional Office. In this capacity, he is responsible for performing studies and engineering duties in the research, design, preparation, implementation, coordination, evaluation, and analysis of electricity and water DSM programs and related projects.

Prior to joining RTI, for 5 years, Mr. Ibrahim was the Senior Sustainability & Energy Efficiency Specialist at Abu Dhabi Onshore Petroleum Operations Co. (ADCO), where his work was mainly focused on the development and implementation of the corporate energy management system to the ISO50001 for the whole ADCO. He was also instrumental in developing the energy management system for the mother company Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), where the system conformed to and obtained the ISO-50001 certificate.

Moutaz Abdalla

Regional Manager, Econoler

Mr. Abdalla is a Regional Manager at Econoler, a world-renowned consulting firm specialized in the design, implementation, evaluation and financing of energy efficiency programs and projects

Econoler has been operating for the past 35 years in industrialized, emerging and developing countries on more than 4,000 assignments worldwide. Most of these projects have been carried out for utilities, private firms, governments as well as for major multilateral and bilateral organizations.

Moutaz has over 13 years’ experience in energy solutions and programs. Previously he worked for Johnson Controls Energy Performance Contracting Group in North America and the Middle East and was involved in developing major EPCs with state and local government agencies and municipal utilities.  He was responsible for identifying energy & operational ECM, conducting financial feasibility studies, validating M&V plans, and guiding on projects implementation.

During his presence in the Middle East, Moutaz was involved in the development of some of the first performance contacts in UAE, Turkey. He has also worked in the region with key government entities in managing energy and sustainability related initiatives/projects (RSB, Etihad ESCO, RTA, GASCO, ARAMCO) which helped him develop

a strong understanding of the region’s requirement and challenges.

Moutaz has a Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Tennessee and a Master Degree in Engineering Management from Eastern Michigan University. He is also a Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), and Certified Demand Side Manager (CDSM).

Saeed Al Abbar

Saeed is a Director at AESG, a firm specialising in the provision of energy and sustainability consultancy in the Middle East.  He holds a First Class Masters degree with honours in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bath and is a Certified Energy Manager, LEED Accredited Professional and Estidama Pearl Qualified Professional.  Saeed is also a qualified Certified Energy Manager Trainer and in 2013 was inducted as a Legend in Energy under the Association of Energy Engineers.

In his role at AESG, Saeed has been involved in managing and directing a variety of sustainable design, construction and retrofit projects throughout the Middle East.  These have included some of the largest and most prestigious master plan developments in the region, high rise buildings, housing development and critical infrastructure.  Since establishment, the firm has developed a strong reputation in the region for delivering high quality sustainability and energy consultancy.

Saeed has authored a number of papers on the application of sustainability in the UAE and MENA region and has consequently presented at a number of local, regional and international conferences on the topic of sustainability, with a particular focus on the application of cost effective sustainability in the MENA region.  As well as presenting at industry conferences, Saeed has also presented a policy paper at the United Nations Regional Policy Dialogue in 2012 on policy measures that would be effective in tackling the regions energy and sustainability challenges.

As well as his professional role as Director of AESG, Saeed is the current Chairman of the Emirates Green Building Council and sits on the Board of Directors of the World Green Building Council.  In this role, Saeed actively works in promoting the advancement of sustainable building in the UAE and globally by working with industry, academia and government departments to develop collaborative solutions to some of the regions greatest challenges.  Saeed also serves on the Advisory Board for the Rochester Institute of Technology’s Mechanical Engineering Program.

In 2010, Saeed was awarded the title of International Young Consultant of the Year by British Expertise in the UK.  In 2012, Saeed was named in Gulf Business’s top 30 achievers in the MENA region under the age of 30.

Ibrahim Ghosn

Ibrahim joined Enova in January 2008 as Head of Engineering services to become later on Operations Manager. He currently is Director of Operations for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Abu Dhabi (including Al Ain). In addition, he is the General Manager of the joint venture Ayady FM in Egypt.

Before entering the industrial sector, running utilities, plants renovations and expansion projects, Ibrahim worked for major MEP consultants in Lebanon. He has vast experience in design and execution of mechanical systems covering HVAC, plumbing and fire fighting for airports, hotels, hospitals and residential buildings.

Ibrahim holds a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master degree in Engineering Management.
